without the torque converter you can still ride but i hear it may be harder to do a deep water start.. if not impossible. You can certainly go bigger than 6.5hp.. but then you need a bigger chain and so on so forth. I kinda wish we went a little bigger myself, but it seems the 6.5 is good enough and seems to be the standard for these things popping up everywhere so far.
I got the 1200 of rope here. But its not listed on their page.. you may need to call them to find out if they still have any 1200 foot spools available.

On a side note about 1200 foot of rope.. we thought that would be cool, but im starting to think its a little over kill. But hell a lot of things we did was overkill. A four football field hike while dragging 1200 ft of rope will leave you out of breath. I think the standard 600-900 foot is sufficient.
